Points handed out by the judges will be combined with public votes to determine performers’ fates. Each state will have equal voting power, no matter how big its population (not unlike the less-than-democratic US Senate). But as any Eurovision fan knows, it’s not just about the music – it’s about politics and geography, with Scandinavian nations typically voting for each other and everyone voting against the UK.
